Common questions

Is GharLedger DPDPA compliant?

Yes. Aadhaar numbers are encrypted at rest with the first 8 digits masked in every UI. Tenant consent is logged with timestamps. We retain personal data only as long as a tenancy is active plus the statutory window.

How do I import existing tenant data?

CSV import is available from /import/data. You can also onboard tenants manually one-by-one. Bulk import is token-gated to prevent accidental overwrites.

Does it work offline?

The web app needs network for sync. The Android app (Capacitor wrapper) caches your last-loaded screens and queues outbound actions when offline, syncing when network returns.

Can I have multiple properties?

Yes. The Free tier covers 1 property and up to 1 unit. Additional properties and units are on the paid plan — see /#pricing.

What if I want to leave?

Settings → Danger Zone has a one-click export of every ledger, invoice, and tenant record as CSV/JSON. Then a one-click account delete. No retention beyond statutory minimums.
